How Cooking Progression Works in ApeScape

How Cooking Progression Works in ApeScape

Cooking is being built as a complete ApeScape profession with progression from level 1 through level 99.

ApeScape remains class-agnostic. Every player can learn Cooking, Firemaking, combat skills, gathering skills, Medicine, and other professions on the same character.

Players are not permanently locked into one class, but time, tools, knowledge, and progression still allow individuals to become recognized specialists.

Cooking Experience

Players earn Cooking experience by successfully completing recipes. Failed recipes may provide reduced experience when appropriate, but eating food does not award Cooking experience.

Higher-level recipes generally provide more experience because they require more valuable ingredients, advanced tools, specialized stations, or more difficult preparation methods.

Cooking Titles

Players will earn profession titles throughout the level 1–99 journey:

  • Levels 1–4: Kitchen Helper
  • Levels 5–9: Prep Cook
  • Levels 10–19: Line Cook
  • Levels 20–29: Short-Order Cook
  • Levels 30–39: Station Chef
  • Levels 40–49: Sous Chef
  • Levels 50–59: Head Chef
  • Levels 60–69: Executive Chef
  • Levels 70–79: Culinary Artisan
  • Levels 80–89: Master Culinarian
  • Levels 90–98: Grandmaster Chef
  • Level 99: Legendary ApeScape Chef

These titles are intended to provide visible recognition and help identify accomplished cooks within the player community.

Benefits of Increasing Cooking

Cooking progression can improve several parts of the crafting process:

  • Higher success chance
  • Reduced chance of burning food
  • Faster recipe completion
  • Improved food-quality rolls
  • Additional Cooking experience
  • Chance to save ingredients
  • Chance to produce additional output
  • Longer food freshness

A veteran cook preparing a familiar recipe should be more reliable and efficient than a player attempting it for the first time.

Recipe Unlocks

Recipes can be limited by Cooking level. Players will not be able to attempt recipes above their current Cooking level.

Recipe access may also depend on:

  • Firemaking level
  • Required tools
  • Required station
  • Trainer instruction
  • Recipe discovery
  • Quest completion
  • Dungeon loot
  • Faction or event rewards

Preventing Low-Level Recipe Farming

Players will still be able to prepare low-level recipes after becoming advanced cooks, but those recipes will gradually provide reduced experience when they are far below the player’s level.

This keeps basic food useful while encouraging experienced cooks to pursue more advanced production.

Milestones Along the Way

Major Cooking levels will introduce profession milestones such as improved quality, better station efficiency, batch Cooking, ingredient preservation, and access to Masterwork results.

Level 99 should represent true profession mastery, not simply the end of an experience bar.
